Learn and Earn Program

About of the Program

The Learn and Earn program offers students the opportunity to gain work experience while completing their degree program through a state-funded grant. The Learn and Earn program is sponsored by the West Virginia Community and Technical College System and is part of the Workforce Development Initiative Program. It is an opportunity to create partnerships between industry and community and technical colleges by allowing students to receive hands-on learning experience, and employers to train potential future employees.

Students at community and technical colleges around the state can be placed with local businesses in positions that directly align with a student’s degree field. Employers receive a 50% wage reimbursement for student-employees who are working in their field and earning a minimum of $10.00/hour while actively enrolled as a student. The program offers a pathway for students to find employment, earn a wage and establish roots in communities across West Virginia while also earning a degree. It also provides a financial incentive for employers to hire West Virginian workers.
