The Skill Set in Entrepreneurship at Mountwest Community and Technical College is designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and skills needed to successfully navigate the world of business and entrepreneurship. This 15-credit hour program consists of five comprehensive courses, each carefully crafted to provide a solid foundation for individuals looking to launch and manage their own ventures. The skills acquired through this certificate can be seamlessly applied towards an Associate degree in Management Technology – Business Administration concentration, providing students with a clear pathway towards a 2-year degree.

This program offers a holistic approach to entrepreneurship, covering key aspects of business management and strategy. This comprehensive program introduces you to vital concepts such as financial literacy, innovative ideation, effective management, legal frameworks, and strategic marketing. Students will develop a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and practical techniques, enabling them to confidently pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS – 3 Hours each

  • AC 103 Introduction to Accounting (EDGE)
  • LAS 110 Business Organization to Government Regulations or MG 226 Business Law
  • MG 101 Introduction to Business (EDGE)
  • MK 130 Fundamentals of Marketing
  • Entrepreneur Elective
  • TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED 15
 
Choose from one of the following electives: 
AT 104 Records Management
AT 265 Administrative Office Procedures (PR: AT 136)
IT 212 Publishing on the Internet (PR: IT 107)
IT 242 Advanced Internet (PR: IT 212)
IT 270 Computer Essentials and Application
MG 181 Retailing
MG 202 Business Organization & Management 
 
Individuals who complete the above courses will receive a Certificate of Successful Completion from Mountwest.
 

Admission Requirements

The college adheres to an open admission policy which means applications with a high school diploma or GED are eligible for admission. Applicants with neither a high school diploma nor GED may be admitted on a conditional basis.
