Mountwest Community & Technical College’s President Search Committee has identified two finalists following a national search.
During the Institutional Board of Governor’s meeting on September 17th, 2020, Mountwest announced the two finalists are Mr. Todd Alexander, Wayne County Schools Superintendent, and Dr. Alan Walker, Assistant to the President at Frostburg State University and former President of Sierra Nevada University.
The finalists will be invited to campus tentatively during the week of October 12, 2020. After the visits are complete, feedback from the College’s constituents will reviewed. The committee will then present a recommendation to the Institutional Board of Governors for final selection.

Currently Superintendent of Wayne County Schools, Mr. Alexander has twenty years of progressive educational administrative experience. He has held the positions of Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, Administrative Assistant, and Coordinator of Students Services within the K-12 educational system. Mr. Alexander has demonstrated the ability to work with faculty and staff, students, and multi-million dollar budgets. Mr. Alexander holds a B.A. degree in Elementary Education, and a M.A. degree in Leadership Studies.
Currently serving as Assistant to the President at Frostburg State University (MD), Dr. Alan G. Walker has over thirty-five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative, and leadership experience in postsecondary education. He has held the positions of Instructor, Curriculum and Program Developer, Director of several university programs and institutes with statewide program delivery missions, Vice Provost, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Assistant to the President, and President at two Universities for a combined twelve years. Further, Dr. Walker holds an A.S. degree in Fire Science, a B.S. degree in Trade and Industrial Education, an M.S. degree in Adult/Vocational Education, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Administration.
