Stacey has worked in higher education for a total of 12 years. She has been with Mountwest for seven years as an Academic Advisor and the EDGE representative.
Stacey also works with Enrollment Management, the BEACON project, and she supervises the peer coaches. Stacey is available to assist students with academic advising, scheduling classes, Edge Credit, and enrollment processes.

Gina has worked in higher education for the State of West Virginia for 21 years. She has held several positions in support of executive level employees, including positions in the following programs and offices:

Veella has extensive experience in coordinating and providing educational support and advising services to students. She has worked with students for the past fifteen years in higher education that has included employment at The College of Wooster, University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia State Community and Technical College (now known as Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College).
At Mountwest, Veella will serve as Student Success Counselor and will be providing academic, career and personal counseling services to students as well as teaching and coordinating services for the E-Z Start program.

Chip Gue, Financial Aid Counselor

Chip Gue began his position as financial aid counselor at Mountwest Community and Technical College in October 2011. In addition, he teaches a class in Introduction to Music at Mountwest, and serves as the band director of The Brass Band of the Tri-State out of Huntington WV. He previously worked in state government at the WVDHHR's Office of Inspector General. His hobbies include music, teaching, and bowling.

Eric K. Hardin, Student Success Counselor MCTC

Eric is a native of the tri-state area growing up just west of Ashland in the small town of South Shore, Kentucky. He has worked in higher education for 12 years, starting at Shawnee State University where he earned his bachelor of science in natural science with emphasis in biology and a minor in theatre. There he worked in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts as well as adjunct faculty teaching intro to theater. From Shawnee State Eric went on to work in the community and technical college system at Ashland Community and Technical College in Ashland Kentucky. As an Instructional Specialist in medical microbiology laboratory; Eric found the he liked the smaller size school and felt he was better able to serve students in this type of learning environment. It was here that while advising and counseling developmental students that he found that he had a passion for these professional relationships that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. Eric began his master’s degree in counseling at Morehead State University and is finishing his practicum there this semester to earn his Masters of Art in Counseling in December of 2012. Eric is excited to continue his work as a counselor in the Beacon Project at Mountwest Community and Technical College.

Jessica joined Mountwest in June 2012 after spending two years in Marshall University's Student Resource Center. She has a passion for helping students succeed. She looks forward to advising, counseling, and assisting students to help them stay on the right track to graduate.

Julia has six years of experience in the field of education. She has been an academic advisor at Mountwest for over a year and a half. Formerly, Julia has worked as a teacher/counselor at residential treatment facilities for teens as well as being a high school teacher in public high schools in Columbus, Ohio and Huntington, WV. Currently she is working to obtain her M.A. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University of Ohio.

Jill worked in vocational rehabilitation for 23 years prior to coming to Mountwest. She was a specialty counselor for the deaf and hard of hearing for many years, and for the last six years worked in a high school with students with disabilities transitioning to higher education and work. She is looking forward to the new challenge of the Beacon Program and helping these same young people achieve their goals of a college education.

Glen has over 12 years of professional experience in working in higher education from Michigan State University, University of Louisville, Marshall University, and ITT Technical Institute.
As the Student Success Career Counselor at Mountwest Community & Technical College he advises students from backpack to briefcase to help them along their career path from choosing the best major to interviewing for their dream job. He would also be happy to assist with developing a resume, practicing for a job interview, and/or job searching for an internship or part/full-time job.

Debbie has over 25 years of experince providing vocational counseling and guidance to individuals with disabilities.
The last 11 years were spent at Huntington High School where she worked with students transitioning
from high school into post secondary training or the workforce.
As a Student Success Counselor at Mountwest, similar counseling will be provided with a focus on BEACON students and those with disabilities.

Sandy works in Financial Aid part-time. She's retired from Marshall University in December 2008 with 28 years of experience in the Financial Aid Office. Then, she worked an additional year on a part- time basis. Sandy joined the Mountwest staff in 2010.
