Whether you’re looking for technical training to enhance your skills, transfer to a four-year institution or earn your associate degree in a high-demand field, let our team of success counselors, peer coaches and faculty mentors help you reach your academic potential.

The Beacon Project guides students through the enrollment process and introductory coursework and assists with career planning and job placement.

When you join the Beacon Project, we’ll match you with a student success counselor, peer coach and faculty advisor who will help you navigate the path toward your goals. The Student Promise

  • Complete a plan specific to your educational goals and stick to it.
  • Meet with your counselor regularly to discuss academic progress and challenges.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA every semester.
  • Never drop or add a class without approval from your counselor.
  • Go to all of your classes. Arrive on time and prepared.
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours every semester.
  • Discuss effective time management techniques with your counselor.
  • Check your Mountwest e-mail at least once a day.
  • Ask for help from the Academic Skills Center if you are struggling with a course.
  • Enroll in and successfully complete COL 101.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and seek assistance when needed.
