Mountwest to host maritime camp for youth

Huntington, W.Va. - The Inland Waterways Academy at Mountwest Community & Technical College will host its Anchors Aweigh Maritime Camp from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., June 18-20. 

The camp will be held at Mountwest's Inland Waterways Academy, 4200 Ohio River Road, in Huntington.

The camp, designed for students in grades 8 through 12, will feature daily excursions and hands-on activities. Campers will experience shipyard, museum and riverboat tours. The students will also learn riverboat operations and navigation through a riverboat simulator and be exposed to fire and hazards safety instruction.  Demonstrations will occur daily.

Lunch will be provided daily. Cost of the camp is $30.00 per person.
