First class of Mountwest vet techs eager for new opportunities

There are many reasons people choose a certain career path – salary, schedule, and convenience to name a few. The common theme among students in the veterinary technology program at Mountwest Community & Technical College is passion. With the rigorous program requirements, Amanda Clark, instructor and program coordinator at Mountwest, says passion, paired with hard work, was nearly a necessity for the nine students to walk across stage this Thursday as the first graduating class from the newly accredited Mountwest vet tech program.

Mountwest graduates first class from graphic design program

Mountwest Community & Technical College will see something new at this year’s commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 12. Among the graduating students are four who represent the first to complete the new Associate of Applied Science Degree in graphic design. One of them, Elisha Meadows, has been selected to be the student speaker at commencement.

Mountwest receives grants from local Walmart stores to support food pantry

One year ago, Mountwest Community & Technical College opened a food pantry on campus to serve its students and their families, recognizing that students’ basic needs need to be met before they can thrive in the classroom. This week, three local Walmart stores located in Barboursville, Huntington and Wayne helped stock the shelves of the student food pantry by awarding Mountwest a $750 grant from each store.
