Fruth Pharmacy funds Mountwest scholarships
Huntington, W.Va. - Mountwest Community & Technical College recently received a $5,000 gift from the West Virginia-based Fruth Pharmacy.
The gift will go to fund scholarships for students in Mountwest’s Pharmacy Technician program and pharmacy software that will give students hands-on experience with real-world applications. In addition, the Fruth gift will also support a new externship program through which Information Technology students at the college will gain on-the-job training experience with Fruth.
“This is a partnership that makes sense,” Lynne Fruth, President of Fruth Pharmacy replied in regards to the new scholarship fund for Mountwest Community & Technical College. “We look forward to working with the staff and students from Mountwest. The PDX-EPS system we are providing for the pharmacy technician program is the same system utilized by chains such as Target & Kroger, so the assistance we are providing will allow students to be job-ready and valuable to many different companies within the community. We hope to provide invaluable experience to Mountwest’s students.”
Fruth Pharmacy has a long-standing tradition of support for pharmacy education in our region and has worked for a number of years with the college’s Pharmacy Technician program on clinical placements. This is the first time the community pharmacy has partnered with a community and technical college through its scholarship program.
“Mountwest is honored by the generous support of Lynne Fruth and Fruth Pharmacy,” said Mountwest President Keith J. Cotroneo. “This important partnership is evidence of the innovation that occurs when education and business work together to invest in students and programs that benefit our entire community.”
