Allies Supporting Autism Spectrum Disorder

Would you like to learn more about Autism Spectrum Disorder and how you can help support the ASD community? If so, we hope you will join us on Tuesday, September 12th. WV Autism Training Center will provide training and technical assistance to create awareness regarding individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The training will be held in Room G07A from 9am-10:30am. To register, please contact Karen at HRempdev@mctc.edu.

Ongoing Opportunities

  • The West Virginia Office of Fleet Management offers a Defensive Driving Program. Each month, Mountwest will provide monthly safety tips, videos and other continuous learning opportunities through the Employee Connection. Mountwest encourages employees to watch this safe driving video. Employees may also visit the Office of Fleet Management page for more information.

  • Our College has a subscription to GO2Knowledge which includes free live webinars and a library of resources. For access to the library, please contact HRempdev@mctc.edu.

  • Mountwest is a member of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD). To learn more about NISOD, please visit http://www.nisod.org.

  • Mountwest subscribes to Magna Commons, which offers a library of professional development online seminars for faculty and staff. See below for additional information about the Magna Commons subscription.

  • Free technology tutorials from the basics to Microsoft Office online are offered at www.gcflearnfree.org/technology. You may choose to take the tutorials or register for a free online class.

Magna Commons is an online, cloud-based professional development resource for faculty and administrators.

Mountwest Community & Technical College has a yearly subscription, which means the entire campus has on-demand access to a library of the best Magna Online Seminars. Because all seminars are online, users can access this resource whenever and wherever they are. Watch seminars at home, at work, in a group, on a tablet, or even on a smartphone.

Magna Commons offers on-demand versions of Magna’s most popular Magna Online Seminars, covering a broad range of topics of interest to faculty & administrators.

 STEP 1: Activate your group subscription access

 1. Email HRempdev@mctc.edu to get your authorization code.
 2. Go to www.magnapubs.com/site-license/registration.html?v=magna271
 3. Enter information in each of the required fields. In the Authorization Code box, enter the group Authorization Code that was emailed to you and click Submit. (If you don’t have an authorization code, please email HRempdev@mctc.edu).

Please note: entering the Authorization Code is done only once. Please do not share the Authorization Code with anyone outside our campus community.

 STEP 2: Access the group subscription

 1. Go to http://www.magnapubs.com
 2. In the upper right corner, select Log In. Enter your email address & password & click Log Int. If you do not know or remember your account password, use “Forgot your password?” to reset it.
 3. From the home page, on the right side of the page, under My Online Access, click the content or subscription link you wish to view. Select See All to view all content you, or your institution subscribes to or has purchased for online viewing. To  update your account settings & preferences, hover over your name in the upper right corner & select the appropriate option.

Mountwest Community &Technical College strives to promote and encourage professional enrichment opportunities for our faculty and staff.

Please complete and submit the Conference/Seminar Report form along with copies of materials (PowerPoints, Web site information, etc.) from conferences and seminars attended to the Office of Human Resources, Employee Development & Payroll in Suite G12. The information employees provide will enable our College to meet accreditation standards and to assist Human Resources, Employee Development & Payroll staff in determining how information learned may be put into practice within the institution.
