Advising

The Academic Advising Center, located on the lower level of the CTC building, follows a developmental advising approach to assist students in determining their life, career and educational goals.

Academic advisors:

• develop a one-on-one relationship with students and have a personal interest in their success.
• help with identifying and accomplishing career and life goals.
• are a first point of contact when academic problems surface.
• help students develop growth through self-awareness.
• help identify realistic educational and career goals, as well as a program of study to achieve them.
• help students embrace the awareness that life extends beyond the college experience.

The advisors in the Advising Center can assist students with the following:

• Assessment of abilities, interests, and goals
• Coordination of career planning and academic progress
• Distribution of information about courses, programs, and occupations
• Referrals to other campus resources

Students who have less than 24 earned Mountwest credits, are on academic probation and/or taking courses below the 100 level are required to meet with an advisor PRIOR to registration.

All other students are encouraged to self-register for classes.

The Advising Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students may be seen by appointment or walk-in.
