Outcomes

Program outcomes are based upon the latest 3-year (2010-2012) average: 67% of students admitted to the program graduated; 96% of the students passed the national licensure examination and 86% of graduates were employed within six months of completing the national licensing exam.

PTA Program - Accreditation (CAPTE)

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is an accrediting agency that is nationally recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CAPTE grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

Accreditation is a process used in the US to assure the quality of the education that students receive. It is a voluntary, non-governmental, peer-review process that occurs on a regular basis.

While CAPTE has always had an expectation that programs provide current and prospective students with information about program outcomes, the standard now is that they require student outcomes information to be available to the public. This is similar to the expectation from the USDE.

To meet this expectation, the Mountwest Community & Technical College PTA Program has adopted the policy that student outcomes will be reported via the website to include the graduation rate; licensure examination pass rate and the employment rate over the most recent 3 years. This information will be updated yearly at the time of the programs annual reports (usually Dec 1st).
