Huntington, W.Va. - Executive Chef Chris Bugher of Mountwest Community & Technical College has been selected as one of five winners in a nationwide contest hosted by the Center for Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ), the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and Emmi Roth USA.
The contest invited postsecondary foodservice instructors to make a short video sharing why they love Wisconsin cheese, why Wisconsin cheese is better than others and/or how they use cheese in the classroom. Bugher’s award-winning video featured lessons with his students about how to make fresh ricotta cheese.
Bugher and the other winners will be flown to Wisconsin for a five-day trip that includes a hands-on experience with cheese making at Emmi Roth, dinner at L’Etoile prepared by James Beard award winning Chef Tory Miller, as well as a trip to the American Cheese Society National Conference in Madison.
“I’m really looking forward to the hands-on experience at Emmi Roth to see how their cheese is produced,” said Bugher. “I hope to bring new knowledge about the process back to my students and integrate it into the classroom.”
