Huntington, W.Va. - The Mountwest Foundation recently elected five new members to its Board of Directors.
New members are Lou Akers of Huntington; Jerry Brienza of Ashland; Mike Emerson of Huntington; Diane Strong of Charleston; and Danny Vance of Huntington.
Lou Akers is a consultant with LJA Consulting and serves on the Board of Directors for Champion Industries, Inc. He is the former CEO/vice chairman of Ferris Baker Watts and a past director for Portec Rail Products.
Jerry Brienza is the airport director of Huntington Tri-State Airport, which handles commercial airline, air cargo, military, general aviation traffic and services six non-stop flights on three major airlines.
Mike Emerson is president and CEO of Huntington Steel & Supply Company, Inc., a family business established in 1904 that specializes as a steel service center and full-service fabrication shop.
Diane Strong is president of Manpower, a world leader in employment services that specializes in permanent, temporary and temporary-to-permanent placement; employee assessment and selection; training; and consulting.
Danny Vance is owner of Service Pump & Supply, Inc., a major distributor for a variety of pumps and services for the mining industry and municipal and industrial customers in Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
The new members were elected to three-year terms, effective February 1, 2012. During their term, members will work to advance the mission of the Mountwest Foundation—to provide financial support to Mountwest Community & Technical College that will enhance the quality of education in order to further the careers of Mountwest Community & Technical College students.
The Foundation has a total of 13 board members.
