The purpose of the College Council is to (1) promote and monitor the college’s strategic plan implementation; (2) serve as a forum for deliberation on issues of college-wide concern; (3) ensure adequate vetting and enhance interdivisional communication regarding areas such as administrative procedures, board policy and strategic considerations.

The College Council includes representatives from eight sub-councils.
The roles of the sub-councils are as follows.
Business Services Council: To serve as a forum for deliberation and a mechanism for input regarding concerns of importance to Business Services.
Campus Operations Council: To serve as a forum for deliberation and a mechanism for input regarding concerns of importance to Campus Operations.
Academic Affairs Council: To assure quality in programs, curriculum and instruction. This may include faculty evaluation; learning assessment; students’ evaluation of the learning experience; program addition/change proposals; curriculum; program advisory committees; part-time faculty orientation; instructional technology; instructional/pedagogy assessment; course/faculty scheduling; and textbook adoption.
Dean’s Council: To serve as a liaison between the College Council and divisions to facilitate communication and encourage interdivisional collaboration.
Faculty Council: To serve as a forum for deliberation and a mechanism for input regarding concerns of importance to the faculty body, such as curriculum, faculty promotion, tenure and evaluation; student retention and readmission; assessment of student learning; international education; and faculty development.
President’s Council: To review administrative procedures; establish board agenda items and policy recommendations; prepare the college budget; address issues related to staffing; monitor trend data; and engage in planning.
Staff Council: To serve as a forum for deliberation and a mechanism for input regarding concerns of importance to staff, as defined in the bylaws of the Staff Council. Staff Council meets at 2:00PM in Room G07A.

Student Services Council: To provide leadership and effectively establish strategic goals, evaluation measures and problem solving procedures related to the provision of services to students to ensure student access, success and retention. The Student Services Council addresses recruitment strategies; placement testing; registration and record maintenance; admissions processes; financial aid; student counseling and advising; student government, clubs and activities; disability support services; career planning and placement; and appropriate functions of the Beacon Project.
